theGEOnction.net Privacy Statement

Please take a moment to read the following privacy statement. It is important to understand how we use the information you provide on this site. It is possible we may adjust this policy from time to time so check back periodically to stay current. Your use of theGEOnction.net site and our services indicates agreement with this policy.

Introduction

When you register on theGEOnction.net website, we collect certain personal information. Much of this information is for use by Global Economic Outreach (GEO) and is kept private. Some information is revealed to other members for benefit in accordance with the objectives of this site. GEO does not share, sell, or otherwise market your personal information. GEO may occasionally contact you with important announcements whether or not you indicate a preference to receive communications from us. Only members indicating a willingness to receive periodic communications from GEO will receive announcements, newsletters, and other items of a routine nature. Registered members may change their personal information or remove themselves from our database at any time by visiting their Profile page.

Acquisition and use of personal information

Information collected about you is provided through registration forms. We first collect a username (your email address) and a password. These are private; the password is encrypted in our database for your protection. For this reason, we cannot provide your password to you if you lose it. If you are able to provide proper identification, we can reset your password and you can change it by visiting your Profile page.

Because the email address is so important to the purposes of this site, it is used as your user id. It will be verified and cannot be changed except by contacting GEO. Your email address is never revealed on this site. If you choose to contact a volunteer by email, your email will be revealed to the recipient so the recipient can reply to you.

GEO also collects your name, address, telephone number (optional), and birth date. These pieces of information are also kept private and are held for GEO's use. The only exception to this policy is that if you register through a partner organization (church, agency, etc.) the partner organization may have access to some or all of this personal information.

Next, GEO collects information that is revealed to other members. This information includes your city, state or province, country, country dialing code, area or city code, and postal code. Also revealed are your age (during the current calendar year), your skills, your résumé, your agreement with GEO's statement of faith, and whether you are a verified member. These pieces of information are provided anonymously to members searching for a particular skill and experience level, perhaps within a specific region, and perhaps adhering to the basics of the Christian faith.

It is important that members use care when providing information that is designed to be revealed to other members (e.g. skills, résumé, etc.). GEO recommends that you DO NOT include any personally-identifiable information in these fields, including name, address, telephone numbers, email addresses, social security or other government registration numbers, etc. When in doubt, please withhold personal information.

Contact options

Users may choose whether or not to receive routine communications from GEO. Those choosing not to receive routine communications may still receive very occasional communications of a more important nature. Communication preferences may be changed on your Profile page. By registering, all members agree to receive emails from users searching for your skill(s). These emails are sent to you without your email adress being revealed to the sender. However, the sender's email is revealed to the recipient so the recipient can reply.

Contact restrictions

Users choosing to contact other members using this site agree that such contacts are for the purpose of requesting/sharing information only. No contacts may be made for the purpose of solicitation or fundraising. Recipients of emails who believe this policy has been abused are encouraged to contact GEO immediately. Users who abuse this policy may be inactivated.

Updating your personal information

Personal information may be updated from your Profile page. GEO is notified of all updates.

Disclosure of personal information

GEO will not disclose personal information as described above for any marketing purpose and will take reasonable precautions to protect such information from disclosure. Users who register through a partner organization agree to allow the partner organization access to their personal information. GEO reserves the right to release any or all information as required by law.

Security

theGEOnction.net uses a secure server (SSL); personal information is encrypted before it travels across the Internet. This prevents unauthorized persons from intercepting the information you provide.
